At the heart of aesthetic education is the belief that appreciating the world’s musical heritage does not begin just by memorizing facts, learning how to behave in concert halls, or playing a musical instrument. It begins in a “moment of transaction” when the listener is totally engaged.

DIAE has presented diverse and multicultural musical performances that have lent themselves to rich units of study in the classroom. Featured in the past were:

• Three Mo’Sopranos singing African American Spirituals
• Green Mountains and Vivaldi!, presenting music of baroque masters and original compositions
